I have the same issue. 
It is for both medals and fans for me. .-.
Lots of people have been having this issue. Some don't receive mentions.. 
It is possible that one of the servers is having issues.

I don't get notifications either. Like..the other day.. I wrote a testimonial for @Abhisar  and I sent him a message. And he's like "wut..." I was like..I wrote a testimonial for you. He was like: Oh, *****. I was like Uuu..Omg. Jk. But it did happen though.

We all know this :P, and there's already a topic on this if you scroll down to Somy's post, the mods are aware and I'm sure they passed it on to the admins, so hopefully they will get some chance to look into it and it'll be fixed soon *crosses fingers* ^.^
