Every rational equation has an associated vertical asymptote. Select one: True False

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

What do you think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i was thinking false

OpenStudy (phi):

to get a vertical asymptote you need to divide by zero (or at least get very close to dividing by zero). this means you need your variable to be in the "bottom" of the fraction a rational equation may not have an x in the bottom.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it is false

OpenStudy (phi):

yes, false (unless your lesson defines rational equation differently than most people)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this was true

OpenStudy (phi):

Yes, I was a little suspicious. but not enough!
