help please Use the image below to answer the following question. What relationship do the ratios of sin x° and cos y° share?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The ratios are opposites (negative 5 over 13 and 5 over 13). The ratios are both identical (5 over 13 and 5 over 13). The ratios are reciprocals (5 over 13 and 13 over 5). The ratios are both negative (negative 13 over 5 and negative 13 over 5).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sin x = 5/13 cos y = 5/13 Here's why

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its A?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes. Here is a saying that will help you remember which sides of the triangle match up with which trigonometric functions "SOH CAH TOA". SOH = Sine Opposite Hypotenuse (sine is the side opposite of that angle over the hypotenuse) CAH = Cosine Adjacent Hypotenuse (cosine is the side adjacent of that angle over the hypotenuse) TOA = Tangent Opposite Adjacent (tangent is the side opposite of that angle over the adjacent side) Does that make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait no hold on!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The ratios are both identical (5 over 13 and 5 over 13).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its b, yeah i just figure it too lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah I just realized that I read it wrong. Does the saying make sense to you or did it just further confuse you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its perfect

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you help me with one more

OpenStudy (anonymous):

of course

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Two ropes, AD and BD, are tied to a peg on the ground at point D. The other ends of the ropes are tied to points A and B on a flagpole, as shown below:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Angle ADC measures 60° and angle BDC measures 45°. What is the distance between the points A and B on the flagpole? 6.59 feet 1.73 feet 4.32 feet 2.56 feet

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Give me a moment, I'm working it out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I apologize. I am having issues with my internet, so my responses may be a bit delayed just as a heads up.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay here we go... Before I start, have you ever heard of the 30-60-90 triangle or the 45-45-90 triangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have this already can you help me in the one i tag you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright I'll go there now.
