Can someone check my answer for me please? answer: (-14,-1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (nikato):

no. its not right. did you even check you answers by plugging them back in? haha

OpenStudy (nikato):

so first, take the second equation and add 2y to both sides. you'll get x=-12+2y

OpenStudy (nikato):

substitute this into the first equation -3(-12+2y)+2y=16 now solve for y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 10/3???

OpenStudy (nikato):

no. distribute -3(-12+2y)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did 36-6y=16 then I put it in my calculator and I got 10/3 @nikato

OpenStudy (nikato):

you forgot to add the 2y after you distribute 36-6y+2y=16 combine like terms and subtract 36 on both sides -4y=-20 so y=5 now plug this value of y into one of the original equations and solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So -2=x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@nikato

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you so much I got it right! :)!! @nikato

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your answer, it's wrong...!! (-2,5) is right one

OpenStudy (nikato):

you're welome!
