Two students in your class, Tucker and Karly, are disputing a function. Tucker says that for the function, between x = -3 and x = 3, the average rate of change is 0. Karly says that for the function, between x = -3 and x = 3, the graph goes up through a turning point, and then back down. Explain how Tucker and Karly can both be correct, using complete sentences.
I don't know fully about it, but I think it is something related to Slope.. One says, average rate of change is 0, and Slope is also a rate of change in some quantity.. Other says, graph goes up that means Slope is positive and by turning back, it comes down, where it slope becomes negative and on average Positive and Negative Slopes cancel each other thereby giving rate of change of a function to be 0 between -3 and 3..
So, in both case, Slope is becoming 0..
