earlier makes the most sense.

I don't think the others make sense. earlier makes the most sense because it says "he had informed us that the quiz would happen tomorrow" 

"tomorrow" being the key word

the class was shocked that the teacher said it was time for their quiz because the teacher said the quiz was tomorrow
