You have a standard deck of 52 cards. You draw one card from the deck, put it back, and then draw one more. What is the probability that you draw an odd numbered card on the first draw and a red card on the second draw? answer choices are: 1/8 5/26 21/26 2/13

OpenStudy (ybarrap):

Odd cards are 3,5,7,9 for each suit, so 16 of them Red cards are 13 Diamonds, 13 Hearts, that's 26 of them For the 1st draw, there is a 16/52 chance of getting an odd For the 2nd draw, there is a 26/52 chance of getting a red card So chance of both occurring is $$ \cfrac{16}{52}\times\cfrac{26}{52}=\cfrac{8}{52}=\cfrac{2}{13} $$ Make sense?
