As I learned from playing Fable on Xbox.....

You get to choose to be good or evil (dark side)

If you choose the dark side..... you get stronger items and more money from stealing. More money better upgrades. 

If you choose the good side...... less people will fight you. Less fights, less chances of dying. 

If you dont have a strong will to fight against the evil, you can go to the local religious center. People there are nice. Very persuasive. They can give you guidance. I once went to a religious center where people dressed really nice. They passed around a "collection box" with money in it. HOW NICE OF THEM TO GIVE ME MONEY. This made me wanna become good. Since good things come to people who does good things, right?
