Your doctor diagnoses you with Strep throat, and then prescribes you an antibiotic to take for 10 days. After 7 days, you feel much better and no longer show any symptoms. Is it ok to go ahead and stop taking the antibiotic? Explain your answer.
No we must continue the complete course given by the doctor.
but why?
even though we feel better in the 7th day the course must be completed as given by the doctor for 10 days.. This is because the strep throat may not show any symptoms but the same may occur in the future [might be after ten to twenty days again]. I used to have the same doubt but got it cleared with a personal experience..:) :)
alright thank you :) and thats an adorable baby pic:P
thank you so mcuh @jboy_52
No because even if you are feeling better on the 7th not all the bacteria within your throat may be completely destroyed by the antibiotic , there may be some residual bacteria and if you stop the course before the recommended time the remaining bacteria may gain anti-biotic resistance , making them stronger and the antibiotic you were prescribed in the first place less effective causing the infection to resurface.
