(01.07) Which table best represents the steps to solve the equation x over 2 + 1 = -5? Step Justification Step 1: x over 2 = -5 + 1 The same number +1 can be added to both sides of the equation Step 2: x over 2 = -4 Adding 1 and -5 on the right hand side Step 3: x = -4 • 2 The same number 2 can be multiplied on both sides of the equation Step 4: x = -8 Multiplying -4 and 2 on the right hand side Step Justification Step 1: x over 2 = -1 - 5 The same number - 1 can be added to both sides of the equation Step 2: x over 2 = -6 Adding -1 and -5 on the right hand side Step 3: x = -6 - 2 The same number 2 can be subtracted on both sides of the equation Step 4: x = -8 Adding -6 and -2 Step Justification Step 1: x over 2 = -1 - 5 The same number -1 can be added to both sides of the equation Step 2: x over 2 = -6 Adding -1 and -5 on the right hand side Step 3: x = -6 • 2 The same number 2 can be multiplied on both sides of the equation Step 4: x = -12 Multiplying -6 and 2 on the right hand side Step Justification Step 1: x over 2 = -1 - 5 The same number -1 can be added to both sides of the equation Step 2: x over 2 = -6 Adding -1 and -5 on the right hand side Step 3: x = -6 ÷ 2 The same number 2 can be divided on both sides of the equation Step 4: x = -3 Dividing -6 by 2 on the right hand side Question 13 (Multiple Choice Worth 4 points)
i chose step two, is this correct?
work it out bro
\[\frac{ x }{ 2+1 }=-5\]
you have to work backwards as in to get rid of the x on one side and get it by itself you have to do the opposite of division
.-. lol... okay then... then by multiply the x to both sides you would get 2+1=-5x
then you have to get the x all by itself so i would divide both sides by -5 and end up with (2+1)/-5= x
so... i have no idea where your answer comes in ^.^but x=15 @ganeshie8
