OpenStudy (anonymous):

they are also like any other cells and has nucleus and cytoplasm. but unlike other cells, the nucleus of sperm and egg cells have haploid set of chromosomes but not diploid.

OpenStudy (deepika.comet):

Can you explain exactly at which part of the question you are in a dilemma

OpenStudy (deepika.comet):

the cytoplasm of egg cell is ooplasm..

OpenStudy (deepika.comet):

and that of sperm cell is spermatoplasm

OpenStudy (deepika.comet):

the egg cell is haploid, stationery and becomes diploid after fertilization..it is only seen in females and the sperm cell is hapliod, motile.. it is present only in males.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would say zygote. When two gametes (Sex Cells) fuse they form a zygote as part of the reproductive cycle. So a sperm cell and an egg cell combined form a zygote.

OpenStudy (deepika.comet):

the question asked what consists of an egg cell and a sperm cell but not the result of their fusion.. @JFlaus

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But the question "What consists of sperm and egg?" is asking for something which is made up of sperm and egg. If we were asking for what a sperm or an egg was made up of we would say "What does a sperm and an egg consist of?". Theyre two different questions I think.

OpenStudy (deepika.comet):

okay we both understood it in diffrent ways....:D
