Music Group Rules brought to you by @Shadowfiend and @TuringTest The kinds of things that *are* allowed in this group: - Discussions and questions on musical theory. - Discussions and questions on instruments, instrumentation, composition, songwriting, etc. - Posting your own original work for feedback and criticism (as usual, please be respectful). Do NOT: - Post YouTube videos from other artists. - Post poems, they belong in the literature or writing section. - Post SoundCloud links from other artists. - Post questions about what people's favorite genres are. - Post an Artist's name and a so on RAP BATTLES ARE NOT ALLOWED If you have any questions, please contact any online moderator.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well....personally, once again...It is named (not to be rude) "Music" not "Music Theory." Thereby, generalizing music as a whole, which is therefore open but not limited to (as long as musically related) music as a whole in any context, shape, sound and or form.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just a rant, in short...The names misleading.

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

The rules were created by mods and the admins. If you are feeling the rules do not follow this, than take it up with them. OpenStudy is intended for EDUCATIONAL purposes. Discussing bands does not have anything educational to it. @Blink-182 it says right in the rules that this site is intended for educational purposes. So, therefore people should have that common knowledge to not talk about "one direction" or anything like that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah but that's where your wrong, you leave a very big gap in your answer. "WHO IS 1 D?" Is worded as a question, there, its now stated.." OpenStudy is intended for EDUCATIONAL purposes" That tells me that this site is founded for "education" not "scholastic purposes" as long as they are learning it is education regardless the topic. You would also be in fault too, your not talking about anything "Music" related, and cannot justify yourself just because its the rules doesn't mean its exempt from the rules.

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

Stop attacking me based on rules I have to follow. ASK THE ADMINS AND THEY WILL TELL YOU PERSONALLY WHAT THIS IS INTENDED FOR.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No need to yell, thats violent. Im just following the rules. Have a nice day. :)

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

"RAP BATTLES ARE NOT ALLOWED " Huehue

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

BURRITO TACOS SWEG

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

Don't hate ~ I just meant, no one can rap. Other than @iambatman <-- Rap god

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you guys and girls seeing what Im talking about? If we are in the Music section why do the limit our questions and interests

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ummmmmmmmmmmm because apparentlyyyyyyyyyyy

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

Please talk to Preetha instead of spamming this thread.

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

What... no need ^.~

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's too late ~ eh eh ehhhhh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If I need help finding a band or finding, a symphony even, I CAN NOT ASK HERE??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Point me to them instead of acting like a self justifying upperclassmen.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because you only brought hate to yourself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so if i was in youre shoes, close this "Question" and forget this

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

We get it child. You made your point. Stop spamming the thread ~

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Things like this bother me, because everyone is getting along fine, asking what they are, then people like this show up.

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

Things like can continue to bother you, you can coninue to be bothered by it. The rules are the rules. Stop blaming me or others. I did NOT create them, I was simply asked to continue posting the rules for the well being of others. @TuringTest and @shadowfiend created the rules years ago. Preetha had approved of the rules and that was what was intended when this section was developed. As you had said before "who is 1D" okay, someone is asking who they are. But they are not asking it in anyway that would involve them doing research or anything. You'd have to be very specific if asking about a band. Such as "I'm doing a research project on ........ and need some help finding info" That would be allowed. If not, it's not allowed. Like I said before, I did not create these rules. If you want to continue arguing based on what you feel this site should be especially this section, the take it up with the administration of this site. I only help out, helping users not be suspended because they refuse to listen. @Preetha is the CEO of the site. She can explain to you further what this section or any other section is used for. Thanks

OpenStudy (redeemed1312):

Personally music is music! I agree with @Blink-182 Btw rap is music:) Have an awesome day!:)

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

@redeemed1312 @Blink-182 the reason for not allowing rap battles is as follows: "The reason to why we cannot do rap battles is because many users get out of hand and start swearing. Not to mention the amount of off topic that goes on within the threads. People can post their OWN rap lyrics, but no have a battle to see who's better and so on." it was not about the debate on whether or not rap is music, but that such posts very often led to cursing/rule-breaking hopefully that clears that up ^_^

OpenStudy (redeemed1312):

yeah that makes sense. people swear on here no matter what

OpenStudy (anonymous):

After reading and reading over and over the rules you have posted, still i must say. People asking questions do not have to put the intended use for the information they are asking for, otherwise, it would state in the rules, "MUST state why you need this info" or something along those lines. So, once again, the Music section, is for general knowledge along the lines and I quote, "- Discussions and questions on musical theory. - Discussions and questions on instruments, instrumentation, composition, songwriting, etc. - Posting your own original work for feedback and criticism (as usual, please be respectful)." Stating nowhere, that you can not ask about bands or band members, or it would be in this passage Do NOT: - Post YouTube videos from other artists. - Post poems, they belong in the literature or writing section. - Post SoundCloud links from other artists. - Post questions about what people's favorite genres are. - Post an Artist's name and so on" In the 'Do NOT' section of the rules you have provided yourself, it states nowhere that said users can not post questions ABOUT or ASKING ABOUT, bands, new genres, or artists. In conclusion, no one on this section of OpenStudy, has been in the wrong. I've seen links to soundcloud and its usually all original. Sorry if this was a misunderstanding.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Also just to be clear, these are the rules as copied "Of course site moderators will also be around and keeping an eye on things. Note that this group is not for talking about what music you like and what have you. As always, if you wish, you can do that in group chat. The kinds of things that *are* allowed in this group: - Discussions and questions on musical theory. - Discussions and questions on instruments, instrumentation, composition, songwriting, etc. - Posting your own original work for feedback and criticism (as usual, please be respectful). Do NOT: - Post YouTube videos for other artists. - Post SoundCloud links for other artists. - Post questions about what people's favorite genres are. Remember, this is still a study site, and we want to have a music group. We're running this experiment to see if this group can be successful; however, if things don't work out, we won't hesitate to delete the group. Thanks, and enjoy!" You seem to have more Do NOTs the the original.

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

@Blink-182 rules have been added over time to address rule breaking tendencies that have come up over time. such new ones are to address Artist impersonators which could lead to copyright issues, and the Rap battle rule that usually leads to inappropriate language use. Such rules are covered more broadly in the Terms of Use, and we here are simply narrowing down those rules to those that reflect upon this group. even between mine and ms becca's rules list there are differences where I express more clearly the rules that concern copyright issues, while becca has more rules concerning not posting things that would lead to off topic conversations.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The rap battle thing was kinda a joke

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To all mods, go check out my recent posts and that's my answer to you. To answer your post above... This is music. No one writes research papers. No one has research papers here.. Musician's go to college to study music theory, production, performance, engineering, sound design, etc... Not to study english and liberal arts. Glad you proved my point. No one's gonna write a research paper on 1direction or anything here. And they will definitely not have any questions about it. We simply don't do that. And if somebody had a research paper to write on 1 direction, they would have likely chosen the band because they're mega fans and can write fluff and a great paper for their highschool english class.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The admins dont seem to care so...As long as we are getting along

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

dag, yo, 8 days and still bumped up to the second on the list. What's the time limit on this? o.o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"I pulled that trigger cause I'm a crazy nig-- and then I said Larry, these tennis courts are full". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_MgtIu6kKM

OpenStudy (cakt07):

LOL xD Okay i got scared for a moment there, because i was reading really fast, and i saw that "RAPPING BATTLES ARE ALLOWED. And i was like 'What!? who allows rapping on a learning site!?' and i read it again for like 5 more times, and then i realized it said "RAPPING BATTLES ARE NOT ALLOWED". So i was like "Thank-goodness!" xD!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Raping battles... lmfao

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know this is old, but I was just reading through this, and I completely agree with Blink. First off, this question zone/area isn't active much, and it's nice to see what people are doing with music, and/or what questions they have on music. I'm a musician myself, and it inspires me to see different music. I think that you're being a little too strict with the limitations, and people should feel free to talk about all sorts of music. Music isn't like math or other subjects. Music takes you to a different place, and makes you feel certain emotions. Maybe someone's new song that they wrote could help someone feel better? I don't know. I also have a question, if anyone comes back to answer it; are we allowed to post our own music links and such in the music chat room? I'm not trying to attack you or anything by the way.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@beccaboo333 If we ask what some ones favorite song is, then that is technically educational. We are being educated on what people our own ages listen to. If you didn't want to see these comments then u should have never posted this. And umm aren't you breaking the rules too? this is not a question, you are trying to tell everyone what to do and that aint ganna fly with me. Did u make the rules? NO! so why r u trying to enforce them? This is MUSIC. I will ask, post and talk about anything i wish that is involved with music. I could understand if someone was to put a question like whats your fav color or something like that but every question on here is MUSIC related. so keep your nose in your own business! And you need to make sure your perfect before you go start telling other people how to be. I love music and I bet a bunch of other people agree with me. I'm not even about to say "not to be rude" because you need to learn when to stop! If you dont like what people have to ask then dont read the freakin' question.

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

@briannaearls12 1. the rules as stated in the first sentence of the post is that the rules are brought to you by two moderators. 2. the purple (A) next to becca's name means that she is an Ambassador of OpenStudy, and therefore has the right to enforce such rules. 3. they cannot just "dont read the freakin' question" because Ambassadors are meant to intervene in order to enforce rules. 4. The rules were come up by moderators, and the specific music rules are simply extensions of the rules stated in the Code of Conduct and Terms and Conditions. 5. No one is perfect, no one has to be perfect in order to tell people what to do 6. Posts meant to clarify on rules ARE allowed, many mods have used such means to notify more users about certain rules don't blame this on becca @briannaearls12 she's only the messenger

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im not aware if you read through everything but, 1. we covered everything 2. those aren't all the rules and 3. the argument is over..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it alright to post questions looking for song ideas and such? like songs about a certain subject or expressing a certain feeling?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"RAP BATTLES ARE NOT ALLOWED " Well, She certainly came at someone's neck (DullJacK)

OpenStudy (skyz):

.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

Let's not do that.

sammixboo (sammixboo):

If you have a question about a band/song just ask in the chats or pm someone you think who has good knowledge of this stuff. Just saying.
