Find the vertex of the parabola whose equation is y = x2 + 6x + 2. (-3, -25) (-3, -7) (-3, 11)

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well complete the square in x \[y = (x + 6x + ?) + 2 - ?\] find the value of ? that makes the perfect square and then factor the standard form is \[y = (x - h)^2 + k\] and the vertex is (h, k)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but the answer choices were (-3, -25) (-3, -7) (-3, 11)

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well first... you need to complete the square and factor it.... what you added to complete the square also need to be subtracted. if you can do that, the vertex will become obvious
