can someone solve and explan this equation 5 1/4-3 3/8

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Have you added fractions, before?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i know you have to fina a common denominator

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Well, then I suspect the only annoyance is the mixed fractions. Change them to improper fractions and proceed with the common denominator.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so in i do that would the answer be 15/8

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

21/4 - 27/8 42/8 - 27/8 15/8 Correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yay thank you i thought i was wrong

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):
