Isaac is cutting wood to build a clock. He wants the clock to have a long hand that extends from the center to the edge of the clock face. What must the approximate area of the face be if the hand he is using is 7 inches long? Use three point one four for pi
Helppppppppppppppppppppppppp
a. thirty-eight point four seven square inches b. forty-three point nine six square inches c. eighty-seven point nine two square inches d. one hundred fifty-three point eight six square inches
Do you have an idea of the answer? Trying to help you, not just give you the answer.
A=πr2 where r is the radius (distance from center to edge, just like a clock hand) and according to your problem statement, you should use π≈3.14 for your calculation.
So. Use A=(3.14)(7)2
he value of \pi has an infinite number of digits, so 78.5 is just the approximate answer, but there are limits to how accurately one can measure and cut wood :-)
i meant the
