2x+1=6x+2x^2 + 5 The entire right side of the equal sign it is under a radical. I'm pretty sure the answer is x=2 x=-1 I just want confirmation, Thanks

OpenStudy (bibby):

You'd have to square both sides. FOIL the left side. get everything to one side and factor

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, that's what I did But it's asking for 1 value of x how do I know which one it is? @bibby

OpenStudy (bibby):

2x+1(2x+1) 4x^2+4x+1 = 2x^2+6x+5 try the next step on your own

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's 2x^2 - 2x - 4 right?

OpenStudy (bibby):

2x^2-2x-4 = 0 yeah I don't know how to factor that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was right, I just chose the positive x value, but thanks anyways.
