MEDAL AND FAN !! A rock is launched from a cannon. After 1 second, the rock is 129 feet in the air; after 2 seconds, it is 236 feet in the air. Using the quadratic function, find the height, in feet, of the rock after 5 seconds in the air

OpenStudy (joftheworld):

@precal

OpenStudy (precal):

ok so you are given 2 data points

OpenStudy (precal):

(1,129) (2, 236)

OpenStudy (joftheworld):

okay..

OpenStudy (precal):

yes, we need a third value

OpenStudy (joftheworld):

yeah but how ..

OpenStudy (precal):

well I am thinking.......

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We gotta find the slope of this upside down parabola :/ I am thinking also

OpenStudy (precal):

|dw:1407890573346:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

xD

OpenStudy (precal):

I was thinking about using the axis of symmetry but I don't see that working for me

OpenStudy (precal):

were you given any other piece of information?

OpenStudy (joftheworld):

h(x), can be represented by a quadratic function in terms of time, x, in seconds

OpenStudy (precal):

yes, I know that. I wish I knew physics then we could set it up that way.....

OpenStudy (joftheworld):

i look some of this up on google and some people had something going on there.. but i didnt get that enough to plug in the variables..

OpenStudy (precal):

sorry, hope someone else can help you
