Software engineering is more about the creation of software. This includes any type of programming for any purpose. There are several sub fields for different types of programming, languages, etc. Programming at the lower levels also includes more knowledge of hardware.

Both are high demand, high paying jobs. For example, Google highers large numbers of both programmers and information people.

well..!!! Security and salary are all pretty equivalent. The other reason for picking what you like is that you will tend to do better in that area..... so it depends on your interest.
Everyone wishes that they had a way to predict the future in the job market but all we can do is take an educated guess and that seems to indicate that these will all remain solid looking forward at least 4 years.
