a) Yes, there is a perfectly positive linear correlation. For every +1 increase in number of hours, there is a +3 in the height of the plant. b) You can model this using a basic y = mx+b function. Now the y-intercept is the "b" in the equation, which is the value of the function when x =0, so from the table, b = 4. SO you have y = mx+4 The slope is (change in y)/(change in x ) using 2 points, so (10 - 7)/(2-1) = 3 So the equation is y = 3x+4 (you could also have done this "by eye" if you noticed that I said the increase is always + 3 for every +1 increment of x). c) The y-intercept indicates how tall the plant was at the beginning of the experiment (when there was 0 hours of sunlight). The slope indicates that for every hour increase of sunlight, the plant grows 3 more cm and there u go hot stuff;)
