What is the difference between linear and exponential equations?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

One is a line and the other is a curve.

OpenStudy (thesecret20111):

Linear are just straight line graphs. Where, for instance y=3x-2. Exponential graphs are curved graphs and have numbers with exponents such as y=2x. Try popping my examples in a graphing cal/software to get an idea of what both types look like :)

Thank you!!!
