How does the genetic material of the daughter cell compare to the genetic material of the parent cell

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it depends in whether they divide by mitosis or meiosis. If mitosis which occurs in somatic cells the daughter cell is completely identical to the mother cell but in meiosis which occurs to germ cells (sperm and egg cells) the daughter cells will share a 1:1 ratio of genes from both of the parent cells which means 50% of the genes will come from the father and another 50% will come from the mother. What do you think?
