Is physics a really hard class?
Depends on how much you like Science and Math.
Well I love science and math kindof I have a hard time with algebra 2 math.
I hate math, so I'm not good with it. But it's not much to do with algebra. It's just simple equations.
Coming from a University Level Physics 3 student I can tell you algebra does in fact play a big factor in physics, whether it be kinematics, electricity, magnetism, fluids, waves etc... You should be able to manipulate equations in such a way that you can solve for certain variables. For example (I assume that you have never taken a physics course before so you would be entering beginning with kinematics) \[\large v_{f}^2 = v_{i}^2 \times 2ad\] will be a basic equation you will be using to solve things such as velocity, acceleration, distance traveled or will travel. Say we dont know that the object starts from rest (meaning v_i (initial velocity) = 0) we would need to look elsewhere to see what it starts at. Say this is not going left to right, but instead up and down...you will need o know that the acceleration will be the acceleration due to gravity is 9.81 m/s^2. There are many cases where you have many unknowns and need to look at outside forces in order to solve for them. So you need to be able to think out of the box as well. If you can follow along with your professor and also look at some different resources (or even ask things here) it will be a big plus. Overall, not a hard class at all as long as you pay attention
The P.S. I'm in doesn't have much Algebra.
Well I can say my response will be a bit edged at a university level course, so perhaps there is a difference in the teaching methods, however I cant imagine doing physics without algebra. (and calculus when it gets harder) Being able to isolate and solve for variables is a big part of it all.
Taking a physics course is a lot like going to a foreign country . If you are not fairly versed in the language you experience may not be very enjoyable and you will end up depending on others to help you find things and spend more time trying to get simple things done. Math is the language of Physics. If you have to think too much about the math you will not be able to spend more time learning and appreciating what is being taught. And by appreciate I don't mean to like or to enjoy but to grasp the nature or significance of.
Thanks ya'll for the help. I was just curious because I am kind of nervous about taking this class.
