What advantage does the phylogenic classification system have over the Linnaean system?
Modern taxonomy still uses the form, structure and function of Linnaeus when comparing both living and extinct species (through fossil record). In addition, scientists now incorporate DNA technology and our modern understanding of evolution. Life is organized based on evolutionary relationships and most recent common ancestry. The study of evoltuionary relationships using genetic data is know as phylogentics
..incorporating the ideas of evolution is one of the major advantage in phylogenetic classification and not just the hierarchy..

@BIOCRYSTAL which classification do we use today in the world
phylogenetic classification..
today..?? but it is told to us that bentham and hookers natural classification is used all overt he world
^^^^ in case of plants
@deepika.comet --they are the taxanomists who did it..but the criteria is phylogeny and not just hierarchy.
though we use hierarchy as in linnaeus system we also consider evolutionary ideas in phylogenetic classification. that is the advantage over linnaeus classification
it was specified that not phylogenic but natural is used..!!!
ohh k
bentham and hookers is natural classification.they just took the constant charecters in organisms as criteria.. but phylogeny takes evolutionary ideas also like whittaker's @deepika.comet http://www.majordifferences.com/2013/02/difference-between-natural-and_14.html#.U-za3_mSx-M this gives clear idea
thnx fot the link @BIOCRYSTAL
