Umm, I'm not sure were really else to post this, sorry if it is spam! But I was wondering if I could have some advice? You see, I'm going to be a freshman at a highschool, and I am extremely nervous, I have never even been in a public school before, I have no idea what to do or even how to act. Can I have some advice? D:
@iambatman ? ;;
Well I've been going to public schools all my life, and I'm not going to say I wasn't nervous, because lets be honest everyone gets nervous when they start high school since it's such a big part of your life. Not trying to scare you haha, but the first couple of days it will feel a bit odd, but go to every class and just relax and be yourself, after all you're going there to LEARN which is the main things, but you'll also make many friends right off the bat, so basically just be yourself, and everything will be fine. You'll go through a lot of changes through out your time in high school, and trust me it can get difficult at times, but you'll do fine haha. The teachers will try to make everyone feel comfortable right away, and always you can talk to them and counsellors there...but anyways, my advice is to just be yourself, and relax, there will be tons of friendly people there, and they'll be feeling the same way as you at the beginning but you'll get used to it. Give it a couple days, and you'll feel like you've been there for ages xD
Do people really make fun of fresh man?
no they don't…
Oh Thank God. I am just so nervous! I start on Monday ;;
As a bonus, a large portion of the kids in your year are going to be equally nervous. Make friends. Networks are incredibly powerful. Planning and good study habits make for an easier experience too. Good luck yo
Haha, I can't say about your school, but no it's nothing like the movies...where the seniors try to mess around with you (it doesn't happen). The seniors actually could care less about what fresh man or anyone is doing, they're more worried about graduating and stuff :P.
It's ok I've been there ! If you have friends that are going with you, you'll be alright .. my brother just started two days and he's doing good, started with no friends now he has plenty
yeah the seniors honestly don't care about the freshman
It will be just me, I won't know anybody.
Now that I think about it, fresh man year was one of the best years in high school...oh another thing, don't worry too much about what other people think about you, because once you're done high school, you'll never see them again (serious).
just like my brother … you'll be fine! it's the first day, I'm sure the teacher(s) will have some sort of a activity to know your classmates
There will be a lot of people like you there Cydney :P, and from what I can tell, you're already way smarter than me at your age, and you'll make friends easily, once again just be yourself and don't worry too much ^.^, everything will be fine!
Yeee! You'll be ok
Ok. ;-; But like, what do people wear? What do they do?? I'm soo uneducated I have never even been in a Public School Before And I just don't want to look like some anti-social dork.
batman you got this ...
They wear clothes. You're overthinking this. There are going to be tons of kids in each of your classes wanting to make friends. You're plenty personable, and likable. Even I, a person with no social skills, made tons of friends with the icebreaker activities and through other high school activities.
Mhm well wear what you would wear regularly there's no competition, but there are people who judge others on clothing alone, but that's everywhere those people are called dimwits, long as you're being truthful to yourself, don't worry about it, there are tons of people as mentioned before who feel the same way, everyone thinks there anti social in high school, heck I thought the same, but that was not the case, you always making many many friends xD.
end up* my grammar sucks
Ok, I feel better now ^-^
Yay :D, like bibby said don't overthink xD
I wish I had this before I first entered high school lol :'(
You aren't the only one you got to remember, there's plenty of people like you right now thinking "omg what am I going to do" You'll be fine! Just go with the flow of everything
Ah, I hope I don't fail miserably, Thank you so so so much.
You're Welcome ! Hope all goes well (:
I'll update the question when I get back from Orientation This Saturday! The first day is on Monday.
Sounds good
Good luck :D
Have fun :)! Man I wish I had this advice back in the day as well :(, I was a terrible student, make sure you study, that's the main thing!
same here …same here
oh god...lot's of wise comments ! i'll say go and have fun... ;)

@Cydney_Morgan you will be fine! I was a freshman last year and it was sooo fun! hehehe :D you just have to stay positive and happy! u get soo much more freedom in high school it is seriously great, stay on the teachers good side; you you gotta make them love you! hahah Open up to everyone because you don't want to cause drama, there can be a lot depending on your school. Upperclassman are super nice. I had some upperclassman friend and we had soo much fun! Another thing is manage your time wisely; that is something I need to seriously work on. Because I am going to take 4 college level classes next year in the 10th grade!!!! but seriously have fun and good luck! :D
oh and i didn't know many people on the first day of school either because i was attending a school I wasn't district-ed to because of a special program. Which is suppose to be much harder! :p
I'm going to the Florida Southwestern Collegiate high school xD It's going to be soo hard.
don't worry! Florida! i don't live in Florida but i am still on the east coast! ;p i took some FLVS which is Florida Learning Virtual Schools. Idk why because i don't live in that state hahah :P
You will be fine. I am sure your Collegiate High School knows how to welcome you. You will do well. Focus on your studies. High School is a lot more mellow compared to middle school.
Lets see... I am going to come at this from a more sociological standpoint. Take the society as a whole view, trends seen in studies, etc. High school is all about the future. Not everyone realizes this. Many teens mess around because they think they are becoming adults soon so why not? Others mess around just because they can. Some are bored. What they are missing is that your future can be dramatically changed by how you do in high school. So, should you work harder than ever before? Well, perhaps, perhaps not. Depends on how well you have been doing. Pay attention. Do your best to sit near the front of the class. Do what is needed to get good grades. That being said, part of doing good is relaxing and enjoying yourself. If you are over stressed, that stress will cause problems in performing well. So you need ways to relax and enjoy yourself. People need friends. Find a few classmates, even just a couple, that are also interested in the future. People everywhere communicate with each other. Some do it better than others. As long as you can get the basics right, you can do it and find at least a couple people to get to know. So what are the basics of communicating? Well, you need to talk. You need to listen. You need to pay some true attention to what you hear and see. Confirm things by repeating them back a little differently and adding your comment or opinion on them. Learn the name of the person you are talking with and use it. With just a few people at your side, especially people that are interested in their studies, you can more easily work towards your future. Aim for doing well as an individual and you might miss something. Work together with some people as group and the chances you will succeed are increased. Also, they can become your friends. These common bonds of reaching towards the future can become the foundation of that friendship. Also, don't worry about closer relationships than friendship. You have the rest of your life for that but only now for high school. A large portion of memory is related to emotions. This is more true in females than males. (Males have a different driving point.) If you get your emotions in turmoil through a relationship that probably won't last past high school, if it even lasts that long, then it can make your studies take a nose dive. Do well. Find others interested in doing well. Work together. Become friends. Graduate with the best grades you can so that you have the most options. Then when you decide to become a welder, wife, doctor, dreamer, or whatever passion moves you, you will have a high school record that does not close any doors.
