OpenStudy (mokeira):

I need someone to take me step by step...please Factor \[x ^{3}-3x ^{2}-4x+12\]

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

what have you tried so far

OpenStudy (mokeira):

ok..this is what i got finally (x+12)(x-2)(x+2)(x+1)

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

\(\Large \sf\color{blueviolet}{before~ you~think ~about ~anything,~ think~ about ~easier~ways}\)

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

i think there is a mistake what did you do?

OpenStudy (mokeira):

\[x ^{3}-3x ^{2}-4x+12\] \[x(x ^{2}-3x-4)+12\] I know that is where i went wrong

OpenStudy (mokeira):

but i dont know how to go about it

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

this one you could group

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

thats a very good mistake :)

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

Do you realize that!

OpenStudy (mokeira):

lol @ganeshie8

OpenStudy (mokeira):

how do I group @xapproachesinfinity

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

not exactly a mistake, but a very good attempt which wont work !

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

you have x^2 common btw the first two and 4 common for the left over you will have (x-3) as a common factor

OpenStudy (mokeira):

ok..let me try and show you all

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

okay!

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

x(x ^{2}-3x-4)+12 what could you do with this! seems you gone completely off the road xD

OpenStudy (mokeira):

\[x ^{2}(x-3)-4(x-3)\] is this right then \[(x ^{2}-4)(x-3)=(x-2)(x+2)(x-3)\]

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

See very easy^_^

OpenStudy (mokeira):

lol...it felt so right but looked soooo wrong @xapproachesinfinity @ganeshie8

OpenStudy (mokeira):

yaaaaay!!!!!!! thank you allllllllll :) :) :) :) :)

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

Yay!!! i enjoy your enjoyment^_^ there is one that i posted some time ago you wanna go ahead an try?

OpenStudy (mokeira):

definately!!

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

okay give a moment!

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

\(\Large \sf\color{blueviolet}{x^4-12x^3+59x^2-138x+130}\)

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

i posted this before! it is a hard one though but try for yourself and see

OpenStudy (mokeira):

it looks challenging....let me try

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

@ikram002p san^_^

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

yeah! go for it! if you give up you can look at the solution in my posts ^_^

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

san in what accent :o

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

that's Japanese^_^ i learned some japanese words hehe

OpenStudy (mokeira):

ok..this will take me long!...i will post my answer next time I log in @xapproachesinfinity and show you how i will have done it so that you check if i will have messed up anywhere

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

i thought so :P i know that word , but i thought its also ur accent san for girl , kun for boy right ? or sama something like this

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

okay @Mokeira, anytime you ready ^_^

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):
