Which of the following words cannot be used as an adverb? A. Deeply B. Too C. Widely D. Tally

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it's D, since 'tally' can be a noun and verb, but not an adverb. You could say 'he stood tall' but not 'he stood tally' The others can be used, like: She inhaled deeply She ate too much He was widely regarded.
