Please help! I have been asking for help on this question for almost two weeks now and no one has helped! Gordon is evaluating some stocks he wants to purchase. You can see the function of the stock price below. The variable x represents days.
Create the price function for Stock D. It should have the second lowest starting price and the second highest rate of growth. Using complete sentences, justify that your function meets these requirements.
Just did that in http://openstudy.com/users/solomonzelman#/updates/53ee122ee4b0f30a87d64efb
Because I've been asking for help on this question for this long, I don't have much time left. I need to complete this assignment later today.
Thank you Solomon! I will look over it.
Sure:) I can repost everything here if you want though.. I'll do it...
It's okay, you don't have too.
You can if you want, but you don't have too.
\(\normalsize\color{black}{ \rm {Stock~~A:~~~25(1.08)^x}}\) \(\LARGE\color{white}{ \rm │ }\) \(\normalsize\color{black}{ \rm {Stock~~B:~~~22(0.98)^x}}\) \(\LARGE\color{white}{ \rm │ }\) \(\normalsize\color{black}{ \rm {Stock~~C:~~~30(1.04)^x}}\) \(\LARGE\color{white}{ \rm │ }\)
Stock D your rate has to be second lowest starting price (which is the y-intercept), and second highest growing rate.
\(\normalsize\color{black}{ \rm {Stock~~D:~~~(starting~~price)(growth)^x}}\) \(\LARGE\color{white}{ \rm │ }\) \(\normalsize\color{black}{ \rm {22 < starting~~~price <25}}\) \(\LARGE\color{white}{ \rm │ }\) \(\normalsize\color{black}{ \rm {1.04 < growth < 1.08}}\)
Make anything up for stock D... let me know if you need more help.
Thank you so much!
And will do!
Can I see what you make up for stock D, just to verify?
Still working on that, hang on
sure.. take your time
For starting price, I would use `23` or `24`, although you might also choose a non-integer. And for growth rate, I would use `1.05`, `1.06`, or `1.07` .
the are infinite number of numbers between 22 and 25, and between 1.04 and 10.8, but those just seem easily, and similar to other functions.
Okay, I will use 23 for the integer, and 1.06 for the growth rate
So, about the stock. How do I make it? Is there a certain way it's supposed to be made?
So, stock \(\normalsize\color{black}{D}\) will look like, \(\normalsize\color{black}{ f(x)=23(1.06)^x}\) .
that's all this huge problem wants to do.
