WHOEVER HELPS WILL RECEIVE FAN AND MEDAL!!!! Bo factored x2 – 10xy + 16y2 as follows: ( the image i put ) Did Bo correctly factor the polynomial? Justify your response by explaining why it is is factored correctly or by showing the correct solution if it is not factored correctly. Explain how you would know if a polynomial of the form ax2 + bxy + cy2 was prime? 281ca60f4437d96e6fcc5804346bb63a.png

srry caps were on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plz help

OpenStudy (larseighner):

Line 3 is just algebraically incorrect. Dropped y from a term in the first part.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how do i correct line 3

OpenStudy (larseighner):

Factor the \(x^2-8xy\) correctly. I already told you \(x(x-8)\) is wrong.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank You. also how do I know if the polynomial form of ax^2 + bxy + cy^2 is prime

OpenStudy (larseighner):

When a and c are positive, two factors of ac must add to equal |b|. In this case ac = 1(16) = 16. Two factors of 16, 2 and 8 add up to the absolute value of b. |-10| = 10.

OpenStudy (larseighner):

If ac is negative, two factors of ac must have a difference of |b|.
