What if the picture is only a screenshot?

That is not a very good graph but the points are the same on the original.

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

that looks good :) so what do you know about `vertex form` of a parabola ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=a(x-h)^2+k vertex = (h,k)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and distance from focus to directrix is (1/4|a|)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but how do you find the focus and the directrix?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

sorry was afk @jaredb2000 still here ? :)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Since A = (-2, 2) is vertex, h = -2 k = 2 so the required equation would be : y = a(x+2)^2 + 2

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

plugin any other given point to find the value of "a"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks :)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

np :) are you able to solve "a" ?
