How did Northerners oppose the Fugitive Slave Act? A-They passed personal liberty laws in some states. B-They granted enslaved people a trial by jury. C-They granted all escaped fugitives their freedom. D-They became members of the Free Soil Party.

Northerners opposed the Fugitive Slave law because they were against slavery, so they didn't want to help capture runaway slaves because they thought that if they had got away, then leave them alone. Besides it would make slavery worse in a way.

so pretty much they rioted and did all the stupide civi stuff with burning torches and pitchforks
