Find the area of the figure. A shape is shown that looks like a block letter L that has been rotated ninety degrees to the right. The base is horizontal and is labeled 8 meters, at its right it turns up ninety degrees to a short vertical segment that is labeled 3 meters. That segment turns ninety degrees to the right to form a second horizontal segment labeled 9 meters. At the end of this segment there is a ninety degree turn up to a short vertical 6 meter segment. The top horizontal segment meets this one at a ninety degree angle. The length of this segment is immediately opposite the two

If you can you're going to have to try to draw a pic. Or label mine:|dw:1408331316547:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the thing is i don't understand it

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Oh...they give it to you only in those words?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i will send a pic of what it will look like

OpenStudy (imstuck):

please

OpenStudy (imstuck):

I can help you once I see the pic. Thanks.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u see it

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Ok, got it. Heres how to do that. Separate the shape into smaller shapes within it. Like this:

OpenStudy (imstuck):

|dw:1408331571293:dw|

OpenStudy (imstuck):

|dw:1408331623459:dw|

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Now you have to find the areas of both those rectangles. Find the area of the first one using A = l*w...A = 9*8...A = 72. The second one uses the same forumla with different values. A = 9 * 6 = 54. Now add the 72 and the 54 and you have the area of your composite figure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[72-54=18\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@IMStuck that can't be the answer it has to be one of these

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1408324823529:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

17*9-27=126

thx
