I have a question about my math grade. I just want to know if someone can help me figure out if there is hope for me to be able to pass or not.

I currently have a 52.13% in the course and need a 69.5% to pass. I only have the final left and a participation grade to go in. I don't know how many points the final and participation are worth but as of now I currently have 246.9/480 points. Is there any chance that I can pass or should I just give up now.

thanks I tried but he keeps saying we'll talk about it later, and even when I email him I get no response so he hasn't been any help so far.

you have to know how many points the final is worth (what fraction of the overall grade)

All four tests and the final are worth 15% of our final grade but he hasn't told us how many points its worth yet but I would say either 100 or 150. I tried a few online grade calculators (not that they're accurate) but so far its looking like the best I could get is around a 60% for the course.

if *all the tests* are only 15% of the grade, that means 85% of the grade is something else.
any idea what else goes into determining the grade ?

It may be that you get a *lot* for participating ?

Sorry I probably should have worded that differently but each test is worth 15% so together all five tests make up 75% +15% for homework and 10% for participation. (I have a 46% average on tests, and a 79% average for the homework's)

that means 15% + 10% = 25% of the total grade are available

However, I can't make your numbers add up.
if you already did 4 tests (60% of the grade), and averaged 46% on these tests, that means you collected about 0.60*0.46 = 0.276 from tests
for homework, you have .15*0.79 = .119
the 4 tests plus hw is about .395 which is much less than

if you collect all possible points for participation .10 and final .15, you add .25 to
0.395 to get 0.645

if you have .5213 and add 0.25 we get 0.7713

also, if you do have 0.5213 and you get full credit for participation you will be at
0.6213 and will need 7.37% out of 15% on the final. that means getting at least a 49% on the final
