Definately! C is a great language to understand because it is very close to the hardware. If you want to do any type of embedded systems work you certainly need to know c

I agree with tdabboud. The more you work on hardware, the more you need a low level language. C is one of the lowest of the high level languages. It is regularly used in driver development and other more low level operations.
