Graph f(x)=4⟦x⟧ +5

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

is that the absolute values delimiters around the x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I honestly have no clue. Every time I went to enter it into Desmos or WolframAlpha, they did not recognize the symbol. It's on my homework paper, though. If it helps my assignment is on Piecewise functions..

@UnkleRhaukus

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

have you been learning about absolute values ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

well then, i will assume your question is this \[ f(x)=4|x| +5\]

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

can you plot \[f(x) = 4x+5\] ( for x's that are positive only)

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

and \(f(x)=-4x +5\) ror negative x's

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

\[f(x)=4|x| +5\iff\begin{cases}f(x)=\,\,\,\,\,4x +5&x\geq0\\f(x)=-4x +5&x\leq0 \end{cases}\]
