OpenStudy (mstv1112):

What is the purpose of vascular anastomoses?

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

hey dudett; a circulatory anastomosis is a connection (an anastomosis) between two blood vessels, such as between arteries (arterio-arterial anastomosis), between veins (veno-venous anastomosis) or between an artery and a vein (arterio-venous anastomosis).

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

pretty much a vascular anastomoses is the joining of two blood vessels that are normally not together. When the surgeon is actually in the process of sewing together two blood vessels, as in a coronary bypass, they are performing an anastomoses.
