5 2/5- 2 9/10 first u go for like denomenators so u multiply 2/5 by 2 to get 4/10 u now have 5 4/10 minus 2 9/10 . because the fraction is less than the number being subtracted you take one from five to get 4 14/10 - 2 9/10. then u subtract. ur final answer is 2 5/10 which can be simplified to 2 1/2
