Determine whether the formula describes y as a function of x. Explain your reasoning. y = -x

This looks like a super easy problem, but maybe that's why I'm confused by it... help please!

a function takes an input (the x in this case), and returns a unique y value that is what you have. You would not have a function if it returned two different values for the same x. for example \[ y = ±\sqrt{x} \] would have two different values if we put in x=4. we would get back +2 and -2 that makes it NOT a function
