The treaty was made to control nuclear weapons so that people wouldn't just go and kill everyone with the new nuclear bombs that were made. The United States is the first and only country to drop an atomic bomb in war so far. We dropped an atomic bomb on Japan and people turned into dust within seconds of us dropping it on us. This lead to the treaty.
