OpenStudy (perl):

8.6 e +12 = 8.6 x 10^12 , so you want to move decimal place to the right 12 places

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

\(\bf 8.6e+12\implies 8.6\times 10^{12}\)

OpenStudy (perl):

counting from the far right we have 3,6,9,12 decimal places , so it has to be 8,600,000,000,000 .

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well...shold be capital e.... well. sometimes they use lowercase...but anyhow \(\bf 8.6\ E+12\implies 8.6\times 10^{12}\) not to confuse with "euler's constant" =)
