If earth is considered a "closed system," how does that shape the outcome of environmental problems? How does this relate to local or regional environmental problems?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Do you understand what a closed system means?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

In a closed system, there is nowhere for things to escape. Lets take a car as an open system example, which will help show closed. In a car, you put fuel in the tank, it is burned in the engine, and this makes exhaust. That leaves the car. Things are put in and come out, so it is open. A closed system does not have that. Now think about the Earth as a closed system around the car. What does that mean for the fuel and exhaust?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, earth is considered a closed system

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

@Madi13 Um, that is a given in the question.
