12 ÷ (-3)(2) + 5 would it be negative 3 or positive 3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Think about the order of operations. Multiplication, then division, then addition, then subtraction.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so positive

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[12 /(-3)*(2) + 5\] \[-4*2 + 5\] \[-8 + 5\] \[-3\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u said multiplication then division so it would be 12/(-3)*(2)+5 then 12/-6+5=3

@dcabeche

I mistyped earlier. Multiplication and division are performed simultaneously. Therefore, instead of performing -3*2 first, 12/-3 is performed first.

oh okay ty again
