Human sleep/awake cycles at three different developmental stages are illustrated in the graphs below. The parts of the graph that lie above the horizontal axis represent times when the person is awake, while those parts below the axis represent times when the person is asleep. Describe the period for one graph. Explain your reasoning. Use the appropriate units. Which of these graphs appears to be the closest to a simple harmonic function? Explain your reasoning.
what????
post pics of the graphs
oh okay wait...sorry http://assets.openstudy.com/updates/attachments/4fd21eafe4b057e7d2212256-rini94-1339170503847-sleep.png
I am thinking that for the first function the period is from 6 am to 12 am...is that correct? if so how would i use appropriate units
the period of each graph seems to be 24 hours
was i right
how do i express that in appropriate units?
im not sure what you mean, the period is just 24 hours. cant really write a function for it because it doesnt really give any numbers for the y axis
for b, would function a be the simple harmonic motion
yes the newborn appears to be the closest to simple harmonic motion
okay...i didnt really quite understand what the ques meant when it said "appropriate units" as well? maybe the units are hours
ya i guess
thanks, i just wanted to double check my answers :)
alright good luck in the ivy league, bum.
haha, Hopefully I get accepted into an ivy league by the time im done with high school. I think being a bum is quite sophisticated and UBER
ill probably never get into an ivy league school but, a good research school is good enough for me.
are you a high school student
no community college.
Awesome...thanks again ^_^
