HELP. At a railway yard, locomotives are used to pull containers full of oil. A locomotive is chosen according to the volume of oil it can pull as shown in the table. Consider a cylindrical container that needs pulling. It is 40 feet long and 12 feet in diameter. If one-half of the container is filled with oil, which locomotive should be selected to pull it?

OpenStudy (tylerd):

post the table

Locomotive Volume of Oil in Container A450 0−750 cubic feet CG35 750−1,500 cubic feet BR73 1,500−2,500 cubic feet YH61 2,500−3,500 cubic feet

OpenStudy (tylerd):

well the volume of the container is 4523.89 cubic feet. but it says its only half full. so the volume of oil in the container is 2261.945

OpenStudy (tylerd):

for volume i used \[v=\pi r^2h\] where h is the height

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So would that be YH61?

OpenStudy (tylerd):

2261

OpenStudy (tylerd):

1500-2500

Oh okay. Thank you.
