How do you change a whole number into a fraction?

for any whole number the denominator is 1
6/1 = 6; 12/1 = 12; 15 = 15/1; 300 = 300/1 etc

first you need to know what unit you want to use
example if you have 12 wholes and you want the unit to be 1/4 then divide 12 by 1/4 to get 48/4
if you want the unit to be 1/6 then it would be 12 divided by 1/6 = 72/6
if you want the unit to be 1/3 then it would be 12 divided by 1/3 = 36/3
