My laptop has a virus that won't let me open safe mode and my admin profile. I only have windows defender, please help!
Tried other programs, like MalwareBytes Anti-Malware? Depending on how bad the infection is, you can sometimes clean with different, free tools. Sometimes you need to boot from a tools CD (which can be downloaded and burned on any machine) and use it to clean things. Other times you may need to do something really extreme like pull the drive and access it as an external on a clean machine that has the right software installed to get the job done.
try mse. it's my favorite windows AV
Use Avast! or try google
mse? Does that catch anything?
It's not failed me yet.
hmm, that's disheartening. I guess my own precautions are the biggest thing keeping my computer safe. brb pirating norton pending further research
Yah, killing scripts is a big help. And Avira has been the top free for a while.
@deadpool123 If safe mode isn't opening, try a system restore.
@Jesstho.-. Depending on what version of Windows, there may be some good options to do that. 7 and 8 allow for some boot time restore options.
Yes, that's also true.
I have windows 8, my safe mode wasn't working and I tried system restore, then sfc/scannow, and entered a system file checker, took a while then i had to run a repair.
It was quite easy, now if you have windows 7/8 try that @deadpool123
