what is the formula to find the volume of a rectangular prism
V=lwh
Here's a trick for remembering the formula for the volume of a rectangular prism There is a rectangle at each end of the prism. What is the formula for the area of that rectangle (both are the same, we just need one area) Right: Area = length times width Now, to get the volume of the prism, we just need to multiply that area times the height Volume = Area times Height Volume = length * width * height By remembering this trick, you can do any prism. What is the volume of a triangular prism? What is the area of a triangle? Area of Triangle = 1/2 * base * height Multiply the area of the triangle by the length of the prism and you have its volume (That's confusing, we have height of a triangle and height of the prism) Volume of Triangular Prism = Area of Triangle * Height of Prism Volume Triangular Prism = 1/2 * base * height * PrismHeight If you know the formula for the area of both ends of the prism, you can multiply that area times the height of the prism to get the volume.
