Lucy has determined a function f(x) that shows the exponential growth of the number of t-shirts Oliver owns each year. Explain how the f−1(x) can be found and what f−1(300) means.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you mean \(f^{-1}\)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes @zimmah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright, since \(f^{-1}(x)\) is the inverse of f(x) it would be nice to know the f(x), is that given?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No it's not :/ they just want me to explain it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well the first one of the question will be a little hard to do without an f(x), but \(f^{-1}(300)\) is the equation that finds the number of years it will take before Lucy has collected 300 shirts.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@zimmah you are a lifesaver thank youu!

maybe this may help you understand inverse functions a little better: http://www.mathsisfun.com/sets/function-inverse.html
