I'm supposed to "conduct" an experiment. If I leave a ball outside overnight how will the temperature effect the volume of a gas yada yada. the manipulated variable would be the ball right? and the responding the gas inside the ball??

OpenStudy (aaronq):

the ball is not a variable. the independent variable is the only thing you're changing, and the dependent variable is what you're observing the effect on. For example, the independent variable could be changing the temp and the dependent the volume of the ball. (lowering the T would decrease the volume). I'm not exactly sure that this is what your experiment is.

wait is the manipulated variable the independent or dependent variable? @aaronq

OpenStudy (aaronq):

manipulated = the variable youre changing actively = independent
