Rate of change = \(\large \frac{difference~~of~~rise}{difference~~of~~run}\) Think of it as the change of the water level in a puddle at every hour. So at hour two, you have eight inches of water; at hour three, you have four inches; at hour four, you have two inches; and at hour five, you have one inch. Find the rate of change between your hours, and then find the average.
