whenever I hit post I get a weird message at the bottom of my screen, says 'would you like to open or save (lots of numbers)? [open] [save][cancel]'

Your browser is trying to download .js (javascript) files. Means that something went wrong while the page was loading (happens sometimes with Internet Explorer). Just reload the page or completely restart the browser. If the problem then still occurs, try another browser to see if it'll work then. Best recommended browser is Google Chrome.
Yeah, IE likes to try to save stuff when you post, iirc.
